CHRISTMAS CHARACTERS: WHAT COFFEE ARE THEY DRINKING?

Christmas Season - Coffee Blog - Tin Cup Coffee Company Nashville, TN

The Christmas season is upon us and many of our favorite seasonal characters have made their annual return. We see them in stores, on our televisions, and scattered about our neighbors’ yards. They’re ingrained into the celebration of Christmas because they all have a personality and their own individual story. We’re well acquainted with all of these characters, but there is one important thing most people still don’t know: the type of coffee they drink. Luckily, we’ve got the inside scoop.

SANTA CLAUS – PEPPERMINT MOCHA

The Christmas legend needs to have the best of all three worlds. This drink has espresso for the caffeine, chocolate for his sweet tooth, and peppermint for the holiday flavor. Though this is a seasonal drink at most coffee shops, it seems pretty likely that there’s a dedicated barista elf that makes this holiday drink year-round.

THE GRINCH – DAY OLD BLACK COFFEE

There are no frills with the Grinch. He likes his coffee as bitter and unpleasant as possible. You won’t find a Chemex or a French Press at the Grinch’s place, instead, you’ll find two $5 drip coffee makers: one full of yesterday’s burnt coffee, and the other full of tomorrow’s coffee.

SANTA’S ELVES – ESPRESSO

It’s no secret that Santa’s elves are some of the hardest working employees in the world. They need to be up day and night building many of the gifts that are given on the morning of December 25th. Shots of espresso will keep them awake while only taking a few seconds to drink each shot. Time is precious when you’re building the gifts for Christmas celebrations across the planet.

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER – HOT CHOCOLATE

Things are a little bit different for Rudolph. He’s a young reindeer and doesn’t need anything but sugar to keep his child-like energy up. Someday he’ll graduate from hot chocolates and move into mochas, like his fellow sleigh-mates drink, but sugar will work for now to keep his energy high and his nose bright.

Coffee, for most of us, is an important part of our daily lives, and the famous Christmas characters are no different. There’s no question that their coffees of choice reflect their personalities. Be sure to stop in at Tin Cup to let us know what the rest of your favorite characters drink!
