What Your Coffee Preference Says About You
Ever heard the saying “You are what you eat?” Well, according to psychologist Dr. Ramani Durvasula, you are also what you drink. In his book, You Are Why You Eat: Change Your Food Attitude, Change Your Life, he surveyed 1000 coffee drinkers and asked them questions pertaining to how they handle everyday situations, like waiting in long lines or making plans, by giving participants a series of responses to choose from. He was able to gather some interesting results from his survey, which can be seen below.
BLACK COFFEE DRINKERS:
Those who drink their coffee black, with nothing added for enhancement, tend to be old-school purists, who like to keep things simple. They are usually independent and responsible and can be dismissive or resistant to change. They are moody and aggressive but can be very patient when they feel they need to be.
LATTE COFFEE DRINKERS (AND THOSE WHO ADD MILK AND/OR SUGAR):
Latte drinkers seek comfort and like to please people, usually going out of their way to assist them. They are open books but tend to take bad care of themselves and get over-extended.
FROZEN OR BLENDED COFFEE DRINKERS:
Those who drink their coffee frozen or blended are trendsetters and enjoy trying new things. They usually make unhealthy choices and can be reckless and spontaneous. They can be childlike in their actions but are very imaginative individuals.
COFFEE-BASED FRAPPUCCINOS COFFEE DRINKERS:
Frappe drinkers, especially those who drink coffee-based frappes, are an energetic bunch, who are very optimistic and ambitious. They give their all to a project or life-event but tend to over-commit themselves and become run down.
SPECIFIC COFFEE DRINKERS:
Those who order specific, or complex drink orders, like to have control in situations. They can be perceived as being selfish perfectionists, who prefer to focus on rules. They generally make healthy choices and monitor their well-being, but can become easily stressed and overly sensitive worriers.
